PM Modi will arrive in Kolkata on Sunday evening after travelling from Jorhat, Assam.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a three-day Combined Commanders’ Conference of the armed forces at the Eastern Command headquarters in Kolkata on September 15.

With a focus on reforms, transformation, and operational preparedness, this year’s conference is themed “Year of Reforms – Transforming for the Future.”

“The conference’s agenda highlights the armed forces’ commitment to institutional reforms, deeper integration, and technological modernisation, while maintaining a high level of multi-domain operational readiness,” an official said.

Modi will arrive in Kolkata on Sunday evening from Jorhat in Assam and stay at Raj Bhavan for the night.

This will be the Prime Minister’s second visit to Kolkata in less than a month. He will inaugurate the conference on Monday morning at the Indian Army’s Eastern Command headquarters, Vijay Durg — formerly known as Fort William — the official added. The Prime Minister is scheduled to leave for Purnea in Bihar on Monday afternoon.

The conference follows Operation Sindoor, launched in May after the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives. Designed as a targeted and punitive operation to dismantle terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper into Pakistan, Operation Sindoor demonstrated a calibrated tri-services response marked by precision, professionalism, and clear intent, the official noted.

The event will be attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, among others.

The Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) serves as a strategic forum for the armed forces, enabling top civil and military leadership to deliberate on key conceptual and strategic issues. The previous CCC was held in Bhopal in 2023 and inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

According to a defence statement, the three-day discussions beginning September 15 aim to further strengthen the armed forces, ensuring they remain agile and decisive amid an increasingly complex geostrategic environment.
