A Vellayan, former Chairman of the Murugappa Group, has passed away.

Vellayan has held leadership positions in various industry and trade organisations.

Arunachalam Vellayan, 72, Chairman Emeritus of Coromandel International and former Chairman of the Murugappa Group, passed away on Monday after a long illness. According to a statement from the Murugappa Group, he is survived by his wife, Lalitha Vellayan, his sons, Arun Vellayan and Narayanan Vellayan, and his grandchildren.

A respected leader and an integral part of the Murugappa family, Vellayan devoted many decades to the Group, offering strategic guidance across its wide-ranging businesses. His foresight, integrity, and commitment to long-term value creation played a key role in strengthening and growing the Group, greatly shaping its standing as one of India’s most trusted business conglomerates.
