All these initiatives support the goal of transforming Kolkata into a major IT hub in India, Mr. Supriyo said.

Exports in West Bengal’s Information Technology (IT) sector have risen from ₹4,500 crore in 2011 to almost ₹35,000 crore in 2025, State IT Minister Babul Supriyo said, underscoring the government’s emphasis on the IT sector and the progress of the 250-acre Bengal Silicon Valley project in New Town.

“In Bengal Silicon Valley, we had around 250 acres available. Every plot within the 250-acre zone has now been allotted, with 42 companies coming on board. Nineteen of them have already begun some level of operations, and three are fully functional,” he said at ICC VisionTech – LEAD 2025, hosted by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) on July 12.
