The temperature is expected to increase after Sunday, though winter-like conditions will persist in the state for now.

The winter chill continues to settle in. On Friday, Kolkata’s minimum temperature hovered around 17 degrees Celsius. According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, cold northwesterly winds are flowing into the state without interruption. With no western disturbance or low-pressure system forming in the Bay of Bengal, there is nothing blocking the inflow of cold air. Light fog has been reported in most districts during the early morning hours. Coastal regions and the hilly areas of North Bengal have a higher chance of fog, though visibility improves as the day advances.
Weather department sources say that no major change in conditions is expected until next Saturday. Temperatures may begin to climb slightly from Sunday. Warm easterly winds may start blowing across several districts of South Bengal, which could push temperatures up by two to three degrees between Sunday and Tuesday.
North Bengal is expected to stay dry for now, with no forecast of rain. Temperatures may stay two to three degrees Celsius below normal. The winter-like conditions are likely to persist for the next six to seven days, with no significant change in temperature expected.
On Friday, Kolkata’s maximum temperature is likely to hover around 28℃, while the minimum may drop to around 17℃.
